What we do
Every month we test popular anonymous Instagram story viewers on both mobile and desktop, in a clean browser, and record exactly what each one does: whether it asks for a login, how many trackers and redirects it triggers, whether it has a privacy policy, and whether it actually works. We turn those observations into a 0-100 safety score and publish the evidence behind it.
Why we exist
Search for a way to view a story anonymously and you’ll find hundreds of near-identical tools, and independent analyses have found the large majority to be scams, credential-harvesters, or fake loaders. People deserve a straight answer before they click. That’s the whole job.
How we stay independent
- No viewer owns, operates, or influences the Index or its rankings.
- Scores come from a documented, repeatable test framework; they cannot be purchased.
- Any commercial relationship is disclosed in our affiliate disclosure and never changes a result.
- Operators can request a correction, but cannot edit reviews.
What we don’t do
- We never enter Instagram credentials into a tested service, and we’ll never ask you to.
- We don’t sell rankings, sponsorships, or “certified safe” badges.
- We don’t help anyone bypass a private account.
Who we are
The Index is run by a small independent team of privacy and web-security researchers who test each service by hand and sign off on every rating. We publish our assessment principles, our editorial policy, and a public corrections log so our work can be checked.
